Reiki

THE REIKI PRINCIPLES

Just for today, I will give thanks for my many blessings.

Just for today, I will not worry.

Just for today, I will not be angry.

Just for today, I will do my work honestly.

Just for today, I will be kind to my neighbor and every living thing.

The act of laying hands on the human or animal body to comfort and relieve pain is as old as instinct.  When experiencing pain, the first thing most people do is put their hands on it.  Reiki is the laying on of hands to infuse the living body, human or animal, with healing life-force energy.

The body radiates warmth and energy.  This energy is the life force itself.  For most people, Reiki is the beginning of a gentle, but powerful process of improving health, well-being, lifestyle, and self awareness.  Many Reiki practitioners have special memories of their First Degree course, and see it as a major turning point in their lives.

Reiki works in harmony with the individual and the lives of those around them.  Reiki can work in dramatic or very subtle and unobtrusive ways so the changes we undergo and the benefits we receive can be immediate or may take time to become apparent.  Other people can notice these changes before we do, as it is not always easy to see our own mind, because we are so used to looking “out” rather than looking “within.”  When Reiki is used regularly, with a good motivation, we will experience positive changes in ourselves and in all aspects of our lives.

Reiki can help us experience a period of gentle, emotional release, followed by renewed clarity and an ability to put the past into context with our present and future.

You don’t have to meditate about it or think about it to make it work.  Just by placing our hands on a body, Reiki will naturally flow where it is most needed.  It is that simple.

As limited beings we live in a world of conflicting conceptual dualities:  good and bad, light and dark, internal and external, have and have not, self and other.  The essence of Reiki seems to transcend and go beyond the duality of an internal or external world towards a balanced completeness, unity, and wholeness, where there are no limitations of identity or barriers between self and other.  Untilmately, Reiki is inexpressible or indescrible, only experiential, boundless loving kindness, wisdom, beauty, and perfection.
